Age
Our tours are aimed at adults 18+ years. Some of our tours visit various producers, breweries, wineries and distilleries where proof of age ID is required when tasting.

We currently do not have small childs bikes and equipment (including kids/baby seats). This may change in the future. Follow us on Instagram to be the first to know new updates. We welcome children accompanied by parents/guardians on our tours however you will need to supply the bicycle/equipment.

Please Contact Us prior to booking to obtain a child tour rate.
Alcohol
Newcastle is home to some of Australia's best breweries, bars, wineries and distilleries.

Alcohol is available to be sampled on some of our tours. Guests are required to present valid proof of age (18+) to be served alcoholic beverages at these venues.

To legally operate a bicycle, riders must be under the blood alcohol limit of 0.05%. It is the guests responsibility to know their own limit. As a general indication you can have 1 drink per hour to keep under the limit.

Our tours are created to space out any drinks served throughout the course of the day. All venues also serve a range of non-alcoholic options.

Are there hills?
Don't hills make that post-tour bevvy all the more worthwhile?

Our tour routes are designed to avoid most hills and any slopes will be a gentle grade.

Booking Process
Our tours are currently available online on our website. We are currently operating our tours on Saturdays and Sundays only at this stage.

Please join our Mailing List to keep up to date with the latest booking methods.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that sometimes things come up and bookings need to change.
Standard cancellation policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 7 days before the experience is scheduled to start or within 24 hours of purchase.

Rescheduling
You can reschedule the date or time of your experience (or add or remove guests) within 24 hours of booking, and up to 72 hours before the experience is scheduled to start.

If you reschedule an experience, the cancellation policy is based on the original purchase time and original start date of the experience.

Cancellations due to weather
If weather creates a safety concern, either before or during the experience, we may cancel the experience/tour. If this happens, you will be fully refunded. Booking Providers Terms
Every booking provider offers different cancellation terms depending on their platform i.e. Airbnb Experiences. Please refer to your provider in the first instance.
Dietary Requirements
Our tours visit some of Newcastles best cafes, restaurants, bars, bakers, producers and home cooks.

Most dietary requirements can be catered for on tour. Please let us know your dietaries upon booking and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Group Size
Our minimum tour running size is one (1) guest on our public tours. We currently take a maximum of eight (8) guests on our public tours.

Please Contact Us should you have any queries about larger private groups and/or private tours.
Health
We require all guests consider their own fitness level and mobility prior to booking a tour. Our tours are not strenuous however we do require guests to have a general level of fitness in order to participate in our bike tours.

Our longest tour covers up to 11km (3-4hrs) on the bike with various stops throughout.
Meeting & Finishing Points
Our tours will always start somewhere easily accessible i.e. landmark, train station or a popular area. We'll send you easy meeting instructions prior to your tour.

Most tours finish in similar locations and we make it easy for guests to make their way back to their accommodation. Some tours can finish in lesser known suburbs outside of tourist areas. Rest assured, we will make sure guests are able to get to their desired place post tour.
Our Bikes
One of the most unique things about Newy Rides is our bikes. Our bikes are custom-built and most are rocking a custom paint job (one of Ben's hobbies).

Every bike is different and we do not stick with one particular brand or style. We don't want you to feel like you're riding with a normal tour group but we're all hanging out as locals getting around town. Our bikes are all easy to ride (majority single-speed, free-wheel, with front and rear brakes). Our bikes have adjustable seats and are generally Medium sized frames.

We are currently adding to our inventory and in some cases utilise the services of BYKKO e-bikes to supplement some tours. Learn more about Our Bikes here

Safety
General Safety Newcastle is an extremely safe cycling city with bicycle paths, shared bikeways and quiet streets linking together the city with popular suburbs. Newy Rides implements strict safety protocols on all tours. All of our supplied equipment is checked (and sanitised) prior to every tour. Our helmets meet Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2063. Guests are required to follow the instructions of their tour leader whilst on tour at all times especially during high pedestrian traffic areas. Our tours place on a majority of bike paths, lanes or shared bikeways. A small portion of our tours will travel on quiet roads (Estimate a 80:20 ratio). All guests are required sign a digital waiver prior to taking a tour with Newy Rides. COVID-19 Our COVID-19 response is detailed here.

Weather
We closely monitor the weather before every tour. If it's wet we will still ride (rain ponchos provided) and ensure a safe route is ridden

Please wear clothes that are warm and dry if rain is forecasted. Newy Rides will provide disposable ponchos in the event of rain.

In extreme weather conditions we may need to cancel the tour when safety is a concern.

Our tours include all the necessary gear for you to get rolling.

- Bicycle - Helmet (Australian and New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 2063 compliant)
- Lock - Hand sanitizer available
- Food and beverage tastings (if described in the tour inclusions)
- Professional tour guide
- Post-tour photos available for download - Rain ponchos (if raining)

Guests are required to bring your own water (COVID-19 safety)
What Should I Bring?
We recommend a few items to make your time with us just that bit better:

- Closed-toe shoes - mandatory
- Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather
- Water
- Sunscreen
- Hat. Something that will fit under a helmet
- Phone/Camera - Personal hand sanitizer (if preferred)
- Swimwear & towel (in warmer months)
- Opal public transport card
- Small backpack should you want to carry extras
